HAMPRECHT MAKES WORLD CHALLENGE DEBUT AS FONG AIMS FOR CHINA GT WIN
DALLAS, Texas (Oct. 6, 2016) – Experienced Bentley Continental GT3 driver Fabian Hamprecht (Germany) will stand in for Bentley Team Absolute regular Adderly Fong in the Pirelli World Challenge, this weekend, as the Hong Kong racer looks to take a China GT Championship win on home-soil. Hamprecht will team with Andrew Kim (South Korea) at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the series finale.
A clash with China GT on Fong’s home soil with an excellent chance at victory has created the opportunity for Hamprecht to make his World Challenge and North American racing debut in the No. 88 Bentley Continental GT3. The 21-year old has four years of racing experience under his belt in various GT sprint and endurance series across Europe and Asia, including an Asian GT event with Bentley Team Absolute.
Back for his second Pirelli World Challenge event, Kim will again pilot the No. 78 Bentley Continental GT3 in the GTA category. Kim scored a podium finish in his World Challenge debut last month at Sonoma Raceway.
The World Challenge finale is a single race event, instead of the series usual double. The finale will be streamed live on world-challenge.com at 4:05pm ET.
Fabian Hamprecht (GER) #88 Bentley Continental GT3
“This is my fourth year in GT racing and my second year in a Bentley. I did an Asian GT race with Team Absolute in Thailand already. I know the team and I know the engineer and I know the car. The only thing I’m missing is track knowledge, but we have enough track time that I think I’ll be ready for the race. It’d be nice to get a podium and end the season on a high note for the team; that’s my goal.
“I did ADAC GT Masters this year and from what I understand it’s very similar to Pirelli World Challenge schedule-wise and how the weekend runs. I drove with Guy Smith at the beginning of the year and he’s raced in the Pirelli World Challenge and he gave me some good insight into the series.”
Andrew Kim (KOR) #78 Bentley Continental GT3
“I’ve very excited to be back in Pirelli World Challenge this weekend. I’ve heard a lot about the track and its famous Corkscrew turn. I can’t wait to take my first laps on it in the Bentley Continental GT3.
“At Sonoma, everything was new to me and I had a lot to learn, especially about how the Pirelli tire performs over the course of the race. I think I can take this knowledge and apply it to this weekend to earn a good result for the team. It would be great to score my second podium in only my third World Challenge race.”
