Titles and Victories at Shanghai PCCA showdown
Absolute Racing teams signed off the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia on a high, securing the vice-championship, the Pro-Am class crown and Porsche Dealer Trophy title and two overall podium finishes during an action-packed season finale at the Shanghai International Circuit (November 16/17).
Philip Hamprecht didn’t win the championship, but he was in good form this season, securing the vice-championship. The Team StarChase driver concluded the season with a brilliant second place finish in the last race of the year on wet conditions.
Thai driver Tanart Sathienthirakul also enjoyed a bright end to his second season in the series, finishing the weekend on high note with a third place finish in Round 12. The est Cola PTT racer finished sixth in the standings for the 2018 campaign.
Chinese rising star Daniel Lu Welong entered his rookie season carrying legitimate talent into the field. The Porsche China Junior driver amassed another sixth place finish and concluded the season in seventh as best rookie.
Ultimately, a season of ups and downs and some bad luck saw Yuan Bo finishing seventh in the penultimate race of 2018. Finishing tenths in the championship standings doesn’t show the true potential of the Porsche Shanghai Waigaoqiao & Pudong entry driver.
Absolute Racing had plenty of reasons to celebrate in the Pro-Am class. Zheng Tong Auto’s Bao Jinlong took his first class title with a third place finish in race one.
However Series debutant Sandra van der Sloot was the star of the weekend, winning the Pro-Am class in both races on her first appearance in Asia. On top of that, the Dutch female racer claimed an impressive fourth overall place finish in Round 11.
The 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia gets underway with the official season launch on March 22nd before the opening round of the year on Shanghai circuit on April 13/14.
