Porsche Motorsport Asia-Pacific customer team Absolute Racing fought their way to a hard-earned but well deserved third place courtesy of Dirk Werner, Matt Campbell and Dennis Olsen in the Suzuka 10 Hours, the fourth round of the 2019 Intercontinental GT Challenge, and the 48thrunning of the Summer Endurance sports car race.

On Saturday morning a puncture in Q1 did not prevent Matt Campbell, Dirk Werner and Dennis Olsen to progress through to the top 20 Pole Shootout. Dirk Werner turned the fastest Porsche lap in a time of 2:01.306 minutes, qualifying the #912 Absolute Racing entry in eleventh on the grid.

An unfortunate refuelling issue with the #125 Audi R8 LMS GT3 in the last hour of the Suzuka 10 Hours race took away a potential race podium for Audi Sport Team Absolute Racing, Markus Winkelhock, Christopher Haase and Christopher Mies as the Intercontinental GT Challenge reconvened for the fourth round of the championship at the weekend (24-25 August).

Porsche Motorsport Asia-Pacific customer team Absolute Racing are fired up and prepped to tackle the penultimate round of the 2019 Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli season this weekend (August 23-25), and the 48th running of the Summer Endurance sports car race at Suzuka in Japan.

Dirk Werner (GER), Matt Campbell (NZL) and Dennis Olsen (DNK) will drive the #912 Porsche 911 GT3 R of the newly-crowned Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia Teams’ champions. This trio is just seven points adrift from the top spot in the #IntGTC Drivers’ standings as Porsche lies second in the Manufacturer’s standings just eight points behind.

The global Audi Sport customer racing family reunites this weekend at Japan’s iconic Suzuka Circuit for a bumper weekend of competition. The 2019 Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup season resumes with its penultimate meeting of the year as the brand with the four rings contests the Suzuka 10 Hours with a strong three-car line-up on August 23-25.

“We’re excited to have the global Audi Sport family back together again at one of the world’s most challenging and historic race tracks this weekend,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “Suzuka will play host to a pivotal Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup double-header, both in terms of the GT3 and GT4 championships and also in deciding the second winner in our Road to Suzuka 2020 programme.

The latest round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia brought the Absolute Racing-run Porsche squad to the 5.615km Korea International Circuit. The fifth meeting of the year, the first-ever of the series at this Hermann Tilke-designed circuit, gave the team much cause for celebration.

Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute came close to a victory in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia Round 9 and 10 at the 5.615km Korea International Circuit, but a controversial drive-through penalty denied Martin Rump and Weiron Tan a certain win in Sunday’s race.

For Saturday’s race one Tan lined up in sixth, while Sun Jingzu, who teams-up with Cheng Congfu in the #13 Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute entry, started in 14th. Both cars had bad starts, but bounced back in the 27-lap race.

Lining up against arguably the most competitive GT3 grid in the world, Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup drivers Andrew Haryanto, Jeffrey Lee, Sun Jingzu and Yasser Shahin brought the Absolute Racing-run #80 Audi R8 LMS GT3 home tenth in the AM Cup class, and 50th overall under extremely difficult weather conditions.

The Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup quartet showed steady pace in the qualifying sessions ahead of the race, qualifying P10 in the AM-Class and 66th place overall in a record-breaking grid of 72 cars.
