Absolute Racing will expand its participation in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia at the next race in Suzuka, Japan to include one Audi R8 LMS GT4.

“We are delighted to see two Cup drivers team up to debut the Audi R8 LMS GT4 in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “GT4 competition is rapidly gathering strength across the region, and the addition of Anderson Tanoto and Mark Williamson to our Audi line-up further reinforces our presence in this prestigious championship.”

Reigning Audi Sport R8 LMS GT4 Cup champion Anderson Tanoto of Indonesia and 2010 Asian GT4 Cup champion Mark Williamson of Australia will debut the Audi R8 LMS GT4 in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia.

Chinese rising star Leo Ye Hongli will join Absolute Racing in the Blancpain GT World Series Asia at the Suzuka International Racing Course on June 22/23. The 27-year-old driver will pair up with Yuan Bo in the #912 Absolute Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R.

Leo Ye, who has earned accolades in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship and Asian Le Mans Series, debuted in the Blancpain GT Series Asia in 2017 and took part in the first three events of 2018, finishing second overall in Round 3 in Buriram.

The 2018 China Touring Car champion is no stranger to Porsche cars having represented China in the first running of the FIA GT Nations Cup last year in Bahrain at the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3-R.

Absolute Racing’s Anthony Liu took two wins in the 2019 Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit as the Shanghai-based team drivers bagged the GT4 Cup and Challenger Trophies in both races.

The Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup returned to its home at the heart of Chinese motorsport for rounds five and six at the 5.5km Hermamn Tilke designed track this weekend, its 12th visit in eight seasons. Absolute Racing crew provided technical support to nine (9) Audi R8 LMS GT3 and two (2) Audi R8 LMS GT4.

Team StarChase’s Philip Hamprecht took the honours in the first ever Porsche Carrera Cup Asia weekend in the world-famous Suzuka Circuit. The German youngster repeated the feat in race two, but a post-race penalty demoted him to seventh. The team appealed the decision and the Round 3 results remain provisional.

Audi Sport Team Absolute Racing confirms that it will compete for the second consecutive year in the Pro class of the Suzuka 10 Hours in Japan with an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo when Intercontinental GT Challenge visits Asia for its penultimate round of the season on August 23-25.
