Absolute Racing is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Young as Team Manager for the F3 Asian Championship. He will also take overall management responsibility for the operation at Shanghai International Circuit.
Martin Young moves to Absolute Racing from Fortec Motorsport, where he held the position of Team Manager since 2012 and helped lead the Formula Renault team to achieve multiple wins in Formula Renault Eurocup, Northern European Cup with drivers like Oliver Rowland, Ben Barnicoat, Jake Dennis or Charles Leclerc.

Chinese rising star Ye Yifei finished as the vice-champion in the inaugural Asian Winter Series at the weekend despite his best efforts to clinch the title. The Absolute Racing driver won two of the three races of the season finale at the 5.543km FIA Grade 1 Sepang International Circuit.

Chinese driver Ye Yifei took his second Asian Winter Series victory in as many race weekends, after a flawless drive in a tense third race at the Sepang International Circuit. The result capped another outstanding performance by Ye Yifei and Absolute Racing. The title decider is due to take place next month.
The quick race pace he had already shown in the previous rounds at Thailand’s Buriram International Circuit, was replicated with a dominant free practice session on Saturday morning with a category record lap time under the 2 minute mark. Absolute Racing’s Ye Yifei picked up two second-place finishes and one win in the Asian Winter Series second event at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit (January 19/20), setting up a tense title decider for next month’s season finale.
It all started in Saturday qualifying sessions which saw China’s Ye Yifei, who kicked off the day with a category record lap time under the 2 minute mark in the single Free Practice morning session, capturing the second on the grid for Race 1 and Race 3, while Eshan Pieris from Sri Lanka posted the ninth fastest time in qualifying one to dramatically improve to fifth in the second qualifying.
The Absolute Racing started its 2019 season in strong form over the weekend (11-12 January) with a race win and a podium finish for the squad’s two Tatuus T-318s in the opening round of the new Asian Winter Series at Thailand’s FIA Grade 1, 4.554km Buriram International Circuit.
Friday morning qualifying sessions saw China’s Ye Yifei qualifying second for Race 1 and Race 3, while Eshan Pieris from Sri Lanka posted the fifth fastest time in both sessions.
The first race of the weekend took place later in the day and wasn’t kind for the Absolute Racing duo. Lining up from second on the grid, Ye went to the front on the opening lap. The Chinese youngster led the first few laps of the race but retired while battling for the lead with a radiator failure.

Sri Lanka’s Eshan Pieris has joined Absolute Racing for this year’s F3 Asian Championship certified by FIA Winter Series. The 20-year-old Colombo-native graduates from Asian Formula Renault Series, in which he completed his maiden single seater season.
Pieris is Sri Lanka’s number one motor racing prospect and he is following in the footsteps of many of today’s promising young drivers by competing in the Asian top junior single-seater category. His signing by Absolute Racing is an evidence of his readiness to step up in the racing ladder.

Chinese promising young driver Ye Yifei graduates into F3 Asian Championship certified by FIA with Absolute Racing. The 18 year-old will join the team in the final round of the season in Sepang, on November 24/25, and will contest the Winter Series that takes place between January and February 2019.
Ye Yifei has been identified as one of China’s most exciting young racing talents. He began racing karts there when he was eight and won two national titles. After racing in Japan he came to Europe where he made the move to single-seaters in 2015 to conquer the French F4 Series title in 2016. In 2017, he stepped up to Formula Renault Eurocup where this season he made history by being the first Chinese driver to win a race. He finished the season third in the standings.
