Absolute Racing serviced teams brought more silverware in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Rnd 9 & 10 at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend (September 29/30).

Heat and humidity are nothing new in Malaysia. But during this weekend’s Carrera Cup Asia round at Sepang International Circuit, these conditions were extremely high; presenting many challenges for drivers and teams.

Absolute Racing put in a battling performance to place three cars in the top-six of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Round 8 at Marina Bay Street Circuit, Singapore.

The weekend had a promising start with Philip Hamprecht storming to a stunning pole position. The German driver clinched pole after blasting through the streets of Singapore and setting a 2:16.258 lap time on Saturday afternoon. Team-mates Tanart Sathienthirakul, Daniel Lu and Yuan Bo qualified all within top-8.

 

Sathienthirakul set a superb lap time of 2:17.040 min to sit in fifth on the time sheet. Series debutant Lu stopped the clock eight hundredth of a second behind him in seventh, with Yuan Bo taking the final top eight position with a 2:18.096 min quick lap. Pro-Am title contender Bao Jin

The race in support of the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix is among the highlights of the 2018 PCCA calendar, which saw the first meetings take place in Shanghai, Fuji, Sydney and in the streets of Bangsaen. It became the most famous races on the calendar and it’s easy to see why. On a merciless street circuit, the heat and humidity make it even tougher for the drivers.

Qualifying for Rounds 6 and 7 took place on Friday with all six Absolute Racing-serviced cars recording top ten times.

Team StarChase’s Philip Hamprecht posted the third-fastest time during qualifying. As the second best qualifying time determines the grid for the second race of the weekend, the German youngster placed his car second on the grid for race two while AAS Motorsport by Absolute Racing’s Maxime Jousse lined up third for the Round 7.

With three wins in five races, Philip Hamprecht is currently second in standings, far from being out of contention, 18 points adrift from the top. On a less than easy weekend in the streets of Bangsaen, Thailand, Absolute Racing serviced teams added another win to its tally. Team StarChase’s Philip Hamprecht won the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) Round 5 as Bao Jing Long took the honors for Zheng Tong Auto in the Pro-Am Class.

As with many Carrera Cup series this year, PCCA switched to the second generation 911 GT3 Cup car, bringing faster lap times amongst a number of improvements to the 12thedition of the Bangsaen Grand Prix.

Hamprecht registered the second best time in qualifying. This year’s PCCA returnee Maxime Jousse timed in sixth fastest, while Tanart Sathienthirakul posted the seventh best time. AAS Motorsport by Absolute Racing’s Jousse and est cola PTT’s Sathienthirakul were promoted one place up the grid because of an opponent grid penalty.

Amongst a weekend of mixed fortunes for Absolute Racing serviced teams at Fuji Speedway, Team StarChase’s Philip Hamprecht claimed his second win of the season in the second event of the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

The weather around Mount Fuji makes for unpredictable conditions and this weekend was no different, complicating the life of drivers and engineers.

Saturday morning saw the Absolute Racing Pro class serviced cars finishing in the top ten positions of the 30-minute qualifying session, with Hamprecht placing the #99 Team StarChase 911 GT3 in second on the grid for both races.
