On a less than easy weekend in the streets of Bangsaen, Thailand, Absolute Racing serviced teams added another win to its tally. Team StarChase’s Philip Hamprecht won the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) Round 5 as Bao Jing Long took the honors for Zheng Tong Auto in the Pro-Am Class.

As with many Carrera Cup series this year, PCCA switched to the second generation 911 GT3 Cup car, bringing faster lap times amongst a number of improvements to the 12thedition of the Bangsaen Grand Prix.

Hamprecht registered the second best time in qualifying. This year’s PCCA returnee Maxime Jousse timed in sixth fastest, while Tanart Sathienthirakul posted the seventh best time. AAS Motorsport by Absolute Racing’s Jousse and est cola PTT’s Sathienthirakul were promoted one place up the grid because of an opponent grid penalty.

Amongst a weekend of mixed fortunes for Absolute Racing serviced teams at Fuji Speedway, Team StarChase’s Philip Hamprecht claimed his second win of the season in the second event of the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

The weather around Mount Fuji makes for unpredictable conditions and this weekend was no different, complicating the life of drivers and engineers.

Saturday morning saw the Absolute Racing Pro class serviced cars finishing in the top ten positions of the 30-minute qualifying session, with Hamprecht placing the #99 Team StarChase 911 GT3 in second on the grid for both races. Eight long weeks after the sensational season opener at Shanghai International Circuit, the PCCA heads to Japan for Round Two, as Absolute Racing serviced teams will be looking to build on results or improve on their opening performance of 2018.

Absolute Racing serviced teams celebrated a 1-2 result in the opening round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia last weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit (14-15 of April 2018), with Philip Hamprecht taking the honour of winning the first race of the new season.

Absolute Racing headed to the “home race” with three new drivers among its six-car team. Team StarChase’s Philip Hamprecht and est Cola PTT’s Tanart Sathienthirakul continue this year, while Yuan Bo returns to the Carrera Cup Asia fold representing the new team dealer Porsche Shanghai Waigaoqiao & Pudong. Porsche China Junior’s Daniel Lu and Zheng Tong Auto’s Bao Jing Long joined the team this year. 2016 Carrera Cup Asia Vice-Champion Maxime Jousse returned to the series in this race to drive the #66 AAS Motorsport by Absolute Racing entry.

With three official days of testing, the five Absolute Racing serviced teams continued their preparations for the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season at the Shanghai International Circuit.

Absolute Racing heads to the new season with two new drivers among its six-car team. Team StarChase’s Philip Hamprecht and est Cola PTT’s Tanart Sathienthirakul continue this year, while Yuan Bo returns to the Carrera Cup Asia fold representing the new team dealer Porsche Shanghai Waigaoqiao & Pudong. Porsche China Junior’s Daniel Lu and Zheng Tong Auto Bao Jing Long joined the team this year. The driver of the no. 66 car will be announced later.

Tanart Sathienthirakul will compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia for a second consecutive full season having completed a deal with Absolute Racing.

Last season the 25-year-old driver Thailand debuted in the series with Absolute Racing, finishing seventh in the Overall Class standings, and both parties are now happy to announce the continuation of his partnership with the team.

For 2018 the championship will be more challenging than ever before with the introduction of a new and even more powerful 911 GT3 Cup. Nevertheless, with a strong showing in the Sepang pre-season testing, Tanart and Absolute Racing have made their intentions clear for the approaching season.

The youngest Porsche China Junior driver rejoins Absolute Racing after a successful debut season in the Formula Masters Asian Series, tagged as Asia’s premier Formula car championship.

The Shanghai native racer began his career in karting, where he quickly showed a natural talent by winning the Rotax Max Challenge China Junior category at the young age of 14. He moved up the ladder in 2017 with Absolute Racing, having taken 7 wins and 4 podiums, and the Formula Masters Asian Series vice-championship crown.

Lu’s huge talent was recognized and rewarded by being selected as the 2018 Porsche China Junior. The life-changing regional talent search saw nearly 300 of applicants narrowed down to just 7 finalists, with Lu emerging on top after a series of trials that tested the young talent’s driving ability,

Bao Jing Long will contest 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia driving an Absolute Racing prepared Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Gen 2) under Zheng Tong Auto Team banner.

Chinese driver Bao Jing Long is hoping to improve on last year’s performance. A successful winter testing at Sepang in beginning of the year was key to convince the team and the driver to join forces in 2018.

Absolute Racing has been a powerhouse in the Porsche China supported series. Absolute Racing serviced teams won the championship in both Class A and B in 2013, and finished second runner up in 2014 and 2015, repeating the overall and Class B wins in 2016.
