ELKHART LAKE, Wis. June 26, 2017 – Bentley Team Absolute’s No. 88 Adderly Fong dominated the action in rounds four and five of the Pirelli World Challenge Championship at Road America this weekend.
The Chinese driver scored his first Pirelli World Challenge victory in Saturday’s race after earning pole position at Road America, one of the fastest permanent road racing tracks in the world, for the second year in a row.
Along with Saturday’s victory, Fong scored the fastest lap aboard his Bentley Continental GT3 earning him pole position for Sunday.
Bentley Motorsport will send Bentley Boy Vince Abril (MC) to the USA to race for Bentley Team Absolute in the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX alongside Adderly Fong in the #88 Continental GT3.
SprintX is a recent addition to the Pirelli World Challenge schedule and has been attracting the attention of the world’s leading GT3 manufacturers, which are deploying factory drivers to support their top American customer teams.
At just 22 years old, Vince Abril has been selected by Bentley Motorsport to support Bentley Team Absolute, following two successful seasons of racing in Europe. Abril, who resides in Monaco, was promoted to Bentley’s works team at the end of 2015 after he won the Blancpain Sprint Series in a Continental GT3.
MONTEREY, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2016) – Fresh off the back of a second-place finish at Sonoma Raceway, Andrew Kim (South Korea) scored his second Pirelli World Challenge podium finish in-a-row. In his North American debut, Fabian Hamprecht (Germany) had an unfortunate spin and early end to his run at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
The 2.238-mile, 11-turn road course in Northern California was new to both Kim and Hamprecht, but both had the powerful 4.0L twin-turbo V8–powered Bentley Continental GT3 at their disposal. Both drivers showed solid improvement throughout practice and qualifying. Kim started P6 on the GTA grid, while Hamprecht started 17th in GT.
Both drivers made strong starts in the 50-minute race. Kim moved up to second and Hamprecht into 14th on the first lap.
At the halfway point, Hamprecht spun in Turn Four and was unable to resume.
Kim held strong through several full-course cautions. The final full-course yellow created a one-lap dash
SONOMA, Calif. (Sept. 22, 2016) – In his Pirelli World Challenge debut, this weekend, South Korean driver Andrew Kim stood on the GTA podium, while teammate Adderly Fong (Hong Kong) came away from Sonoma Raceway with a top-10 finish in the front-running GT class.
It was a last-minute entry for Kim’s No. 78 Continental GT3 and Bentley Motorsport in the UK pulled out all the stops to get the car prepared and shipped to arrive on Thursday of race week.
