The global Audi Sport customer racing family reunites this weekend at Japan’s iconic Suzuka Circuit for a bumper weekend of competition. The 2019 Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup season resumes with its penultimate meeting of the year as the brand with the four rings contests the Suzuka 10 Hours with a strong three-car line-up on August 23-25.

“We’re excited to have the global Audi Sport family back together again at one of the world’s most challenging and historic race tracks this weekend,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “Suzuka will play host to a pivotal Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup double-header, both in terms of the GT3 and GT4 championships and also in deciding the second winner in our Road to Suzuka 2020 programme.
Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute came close to a victory in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia Round 9 and 10 at the 5.615km Korea International Circuit, but a controversial drive-through penalty denied Martin Rump and Weiron Tan a certain win in Sunday’s race.

For Saturday’s race one Tan lined up in sixth, while Sun Jingzu, who teams-up with Cheng Congfu in the #13 Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute entry, started in 14th. Both cars had bad starts, but bounced back in the 27-lap race.

Absolute Racing has confirmed it will enter a pair of Audi R8 LMS GT3s in Blancpain GT Series Asia this year.
The team ran a variety of cars on behalf of themselves and others last season, but most notably the OD Racing Audi driven by Aditya Patel and Mitch Gilbert who missed out on the overall Drivers’ title by just one point. J-Fly by Absolute Racing driver Alessio Picariello also starred en route to three pole positions in five outings.
While Absolute’s driver crews are yet to be confirmed, the team is expected to field both Pro/Am and Silver Cup pairings.
