The Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute celebrated its second win of the 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia season in front of a bumper crowd at ‘the home of Chinese motorsport’ Shanghai. Martin Rump and Weiron Tan had a dominant race one in the season finale as Cheng Congfu and Sun Jingzu in the second Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute entry took their first Pro/Am podium of the season.

The latest round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia brought the Absolute Racing-run Porsche squad to the 5.615km Korea International Circuit. The fifth meeting of the year, the first-ever of the series at this Hermann Tilke-designed circuit, gave the team much cause for celebration.

Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute came close to a victory in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia Round 9 and 10 at the 5.615km Korea International Circuit, but a controversial drive-through penalty denied Martin Rump and Weiron Tan a certain win in Sunday’s race.

For Saturday’s race one Tan lined up in sixth, while Sun Jingzu, who teams-up with Cheng Congfu in the #13 Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute entry, started in 14th. Both cars had bad starts, but bounced back in the 27-lap race.

Absolute Racing will expand its participation in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia at the next race in Suzuka, Japan to include one Audi R8 LMS GT4.
