Absolute Racing joins World eX

Asian motorsport specialists Absolute Racing confirm their participation in the new RCCO World eX Championship.

Following France and Germany, China, through the addition of Absolute Racing, is now also represented on the ever-growing grid of the new RCCO World eX Championship, which is set to begin in early 2021. Fabien Fior’s and Ingo Matter’s Absolute Racing team has become a powerhouse in Asia with several outlets in different parts of the world, including China and other parts of Asia in Malaysia and Thailand. Absolute Racing strives to deliver top-notch services including, but not limited to technical services, team management, logistics, storage, and maintenance. The team has captured victories in every major “real world” GT and single seater racing series it has entered in Asia with prestigious brands including Audi, Bentley and Porsche.

With the team always aiming for more, World eX is a perfect fit with its mission of combining entertaining motorsport and its core message of sustainability and raising climate awareness. “We are constantly striving to embrace new challenges. We have been exploring the possibility of entering sim racing for a while and World eX offers the concept that we were looking for. It is not just simply another copy of real-world racing,” says Ingo Matter, Director of Absolute Racing. “Furthermore, the entire sustainable concept behind it shares our values – values that we have put into practice this year. With different workshops in different places in China and Southeast Asia, we have appointed fixed crews, drastically reducing the regional travelling, and we are encouraging our employees to work remotely. It is well-known that the Chinese government and industry leaders are enthusiastic about promoting electric vehicles, so it makes all the more sense for us to be part of the World eX platform in order to send out this positive message.”

The excitement for World eX continues to grow with the third confirmed nation on the grid. “We are very pleased to welcome Absolute Racing as the first Asian team in World eX. China is a very important market for the automotive industry and the whole world is looking to China regarding the climate crisis and which measures they will be implementing,” says Thomas Voigt, CEO and Founding Partner of RCCO E-Sport AG. “I have known Ingo Matter and his team for a very long time and even worked together with his father in the past. It’s great to have them on board and I strongly believe that they can contribute very much to the success of World eX, esports racing and a more sustainable and future-oriented motorsport scene in China and Asia.”

World eX is a new format founded by Le Mans winner and DTM champion Mike Rockenfeller. The esports series combines thrilling motorsport with informative entertainment and the topic of sustainability. The RCCO World eX Championship follows the motto of #RacingForTheClimate.

The new world championship is intended as a competitive platform for renowned racing drivers and experienced esports racing specialists. Ten teams from all around the world will use the spectacular all-electric racing cars which Rockenfeller has developed together with experienced motorsport engineers and simulation specialists. “The racing cars are ‘sustainable beasts’ with 1,000 electric horsepower and are extremely demanding, even for professional racing drivers. They are both fun to drive and to watch,” says Rockenfeller, summarizing the results of months of development work. The technical basis is available to all participating teams and manufacturers who can adopt it according to their requirements and wishes.

Furthermore, World eX is a communication platform. In addition to an innovative event format with entertaining racing action, the new RCCO racing series provides the framework for information on sustainable mobility. “World eX will show that sustainability can be very entertaining,” explains Rockenfeller.
