HZO Fortis Racing by Absolute Racing secured a GT3 Am class podium by finishing sixth overall and second in the Chinese endurance classic; the Shanghai 8 Hours.

Held at the Shanghai International Circuit, the home of Chinese motorsport and host venue to the country’s Formula 1 Grand Prix, Malaysian brothers Hairie and Haziq Oh were joined at HZO Fortis Racing by Absolute Racing Audi R8 LMS evo II by Malaysian former junior single-seater talent and Silver-ranked driver Aaron Lim.

It was anything but an easy weekend for the 25-strong cast, comprising several of the region’s most successful amateur and Silver-class drivers, due to the rain and treacherous weather conditions.

Entered in the GT3 Am class, against strong local competition that knows this track very well, the Malaysian trio qualified ninth overall and sixth in their class on Saturday.

The team's strategy was clear from the outset: avoid mistakes and unnecessary risks, given the length of the race and the worsening weather conditions. Drawing on their shared experience from the Sepang 12 Hours earlier in the year, the Oh brothers, alongside their driver coach Aaron Lim, executed a flawless performance. Not even a late safety car could prevent them from claiming a podium finish in only their second-ever endurance race.

Team Principal Fabien Fior said: "The race unfolded exactly as planned, with no issues from either the drivers or the car, even though the track conditions were far from ideal. We're absolutely thrilled with the result and want to give full credit to the drivers for their outstanding performance.”

Haziq Oh added “The race highlighted HZO Fortis Racing by Absolute Racing's commitment to excellence, with each member contributing to a well-coordinated performance. Their hard work and preparation paid off as they navigated the twists and turns of the Shanghai circuit, delivering a thrilling performance for fans and supporters.”

Said Hairie Oh: “We’re incredibly proud of HZO Fortis Racing by Absolute Racing’s team effort. A huge thank you to everyone at Absolute Racing for their dedication and support throughout the race. This event brought us closer together, and we look forward to building on this experience in future competitions.”

“HZO Fortis Racing by Absolute Racing continues to push the boundaries of endurance racing, and this event marks another significant chapter in our journey”, concluded Aaron Lim.

HZO Fortis Racing by Absolute Racing's next event is the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia season finale, to be held at Circuito de Jerez in Spain. At the historic Jerez de la Frontera circuit, the team will also compete in the prestigious Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals on the 16th and 17th of November.
