B-Quik Absolute Racing makes an immediate return to Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit this week for the fourth round of TSS The Super Series 2024 with an expanded entry as we add a fifth Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II to the line up in Super Car GT3.
The weekend will have an extra impact too as it will be a “triple header” with races scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That’s because the previous round of the series, held here just last month, was impacted by the weather and one race had to be postponed and rolled over to this round. That race will take place on Friday making it a very busy weekend for the teams and drivers.
As well as adding an extra Audi to the proceedings we are also adjusting some of our drivers line ups to optimise the car rosters as we head into the second half of the season and what is looking set to be very close Drivers’ and Teams’ title run ins.
The quintet of Audis starts with the #37 Winhere by B-Quik Absolute Racing entry shared by Deng Yi and Sandy Stuvik, first up by dint of their standing in the Drivers’ championship classification, they’re just 6 points adrift of the points leaders after consistently scoring in all five races so far including a win at Bangsaen. They’re our best place crew to challenge for the title which sees three crews covered by just six points going into this weekend.
We have adjusted the roster in the #27 Audi to pair Vincent Lin and Huang Ruohan together and reprise a driver line up that proved very successful during their debuts with B-Quik Absolute Racing in the closing rounds of TSS last year. Both drivers can still mount a challenge for the Drivers’ title over the remaining five races.
In the #62 Audi Akash Nandy and Eshan Pieris will be looking for wins and after missing Bangsaen they need to score big in all three races if they are to haul themselves into the challenge for the championship.
They both come off the back of a hugely successful weekend in Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia at Okayama with Absolute Racing. Nandy scored a sensation overall win, his first in the prestigious pan Asian series, while Pieris was once again on the podium.
In the #26 Audi we have tweaked the lineup to put Henk Kiks and Markus Winkelhock together, keeping the Dutchman in the car after he returned to the GT3 roster in Bangsaen and then continued for the last round, while it was logical to slot Markus alongside to create another well rounded lineup that brings a lot of experience to the equation.
The fourth round of the TSS season will feature a lineup of newcomers. Malaysian drivers Haziq Oh and Aaron Lim will drive the #5 HZO Racing Team by Absolute Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II. Haziq Oh is currently leading the Lamborghini Cup class standings in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia and he will be teamed up with Aaron Lim, a well-known local driver. The Malaysian duo aren’t new to the Ingolstadt manufacturer's car, as they previously paired up in the Sepang 12 Hours along with Haziq's brother, Hairie, finishing the race on their debut.
We are also making an adjustment to the line up in Super Car GT4 as we continue to push forward and promote budding drivers from the B-Quik Junior Programme and look to give them opportunities at higher levels.
After showing a lot of pace on his GT4 debut in Bangsaen we will draft Sathaporn Veerachue into the #26 Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport alongside the car’s regular driver, Erwin de Smit. This should make for a competitive proposition in the growing Super Car GT4 field.
The fourth round of TSS The Super Series 2024 (which includes one race postponed from the third round) takes place from 6-8 September at Sepang International Circuit.
