Absolute Racing Teams closed out the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia season with a victory, as the prestigious Italian automaker one-make series roared into its most exciting week of the year — the sixth and final round of the championship, followed by the 2025 World Finals at Italy’s 4.226 km Misano World Circuit.

SQDA-GRIT Motorsport driver Brian Lee Changwoo arrived in Italy firmly in contention for the Pro-Am title. The 2024 AM champion sat just 11 points behind after securing four wins this season alongside team-mate Alex Liang Jiatong. Liang, who missed the Fuji round, was third in the standings heading into Misano.

Malaysian brothers Haziq and Hairie Oh, representing HZO Fortis Racing Team by Absolute Racing, were determined to fight for the AM title. However, the 2024 Lamborghini Cup champions arrived in Europe with a 15-point disadvantage.

Also in the AM title fight were series newcomers Umar Abdullah and Dypo Fitramadhan. The Indonesian duo impressed throughout their debut season with Delta Garage Racing Team by Absolute Racing.

LSTA: So Near Yet So Far

The first race took place on Thursday afternoon, with the three Absolute Racing-run Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 cars fighting hard in the midfield. SQDA-GRIT Motorsport’s Liang Jiatong was challenging for the Pro-Am lead but suffered a setback when both he was handed five-second penalties for gaining an advantage at the start. Ultimately, Brian Lee and Alex Liang crossed the finish line in second place, cutting their deficit in the category standings to seven points ahead of the final race.

With only one option left for the last race of the year — to win — the Korean-Chinese pairing delivered a flawless performance in this second race, dominating the Pro-Am class from start to finish. Despite their commanding victory, Brian Lee narrowly missed out on the Pro-Am title by just two points.

On a new circuit for the team, Umar Abdullah and Dypo Fitramadhan secured third place in Thursday’s opening race, even leading the class briefly after the pit window opened. Unfortunately, the Indonesian duo were eliminated in a first corner incident during the second encounter, which brought out a brief safety car period.

Starting from pole position in their class for Race 1, Haziq and Hairie Oh endured an eventful run to finish fourth. The Malaysian brothers bounced back in Friday’s race, claiming second place and a podium finish despite a five-second track limits penalty. They concluded the season as runners-up in the Am class.

WORLD FINALS: International Experience

For the three Absolute Racing teams, the weekend concluded with the World Finals races. SQDA-GRIT Motorsport duo had an unfortunate weekend. In the opening PRO + PRO-AM race, the Lamborghini Seoul-supported car of Alex Liang and Brian Lee fell victim to first-lap chaos, with a tyre puncture leaving the duo two laps down. Despite the setback, they managed to cross the finish line in P13 in the PRO-AM class. In the second race, they were once again caught up in an opening-lap incident and were unable to finish.

In the AM + LC races, Umar Abdullah competed solo, finishing P14 in race one, two positions ahead of the Oh brothers. In the second race, the HZO Fortis Racing Team by Absolute Racing pairing finished P13 in class, while Umar Abdullah came home P15.
