Alex Jiatong Liang and Akash Nandy will share driving duties in the Absolute Racing-run No.63 Ultraman Tiga Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 at the opening round of the 2026 China GT Championship this weekend at Shanghai International Circuit.
With the support of Trends Hobby - a new brand specialising in premium 1:64 scale diecast models, distinguished by exceptional attention to detail, official licensing and high-quality craftsmanship - Absolute Racing returns to China's premier GT series with an ambitious and high-calibre driver pairing.
Alex Jiatong Liang rejoins the team following several outings with Absolute Racing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia last season. The Chinese driver, a race winner in the Macau Grand Prix's Greater Bay Area GT Cup, was among the earlier members of the Lamborghini Junior Programme, accumulating experience across European GT racing and Lamborghini one-make series.
"I am very glad to join the China GT Championship with Absolute Racing," said Liang. "Thanks to the team for putting me in the car. I am looking forward to sharing it with Akash, and hopefully we can perform well in this special Ultraman Tiga machinery."
Akash Nandy requires no introduction, having campaigned the Huracán GT3 EVO2 for Absolute Racing at the highest level since last year. The Malaysian driver secured overall pole position and Silver Cup class victory at the opening round of the GT World Challenge Asia just a fortnight ago, before taking part in the official test day at Shanghai.
"I'm very grateful to Absolute Racing for the opportunity to be part of their line-up this year," said Nandy. "It's a privilege to represent the team in the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, and I'm excited to get started. We have a strong package and a great group of people behind us, so I'm confident we can be competitive and fight for solid results. I'm looking forward to working closely with the team and giving it everything we have each time we're on track.”
Speaking about the challenges of the new season, Absolute Racing's Erin Chen (Team Leader) said: "In 2026, our programme spans multiple major GT championships across Asia, as well as selected intercontinental events. Within this broader structure, China GT is not only an important round, but also a key platform for the team’s operations and development in the Chinese market. By competing in this championship, we are able to continue building experience across different racing environments, while also advancing testing, integration and on-track development in a domestic setting. While achieving strong results remains our core objective, we also aim to use a mature and competitive platform like China GT to further structure our season and prepare for higher-intensity competition later in the year."
The No.63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 carries a striking livery inspired by Ultraman Tiga, the beloved sci-fi superhero whose 30th anniversary falls in 2026. The iconic character provides a vivid and eye-catching aesthetic for the Italian-built GT3 machine, which is set to turn heads both on and off the Shanghai International Circuit, with this weekend's design serving as the first of several liveries planned across the season.
With a record-breaking 57-car entry, the China GT Championship will be split across two separate grids, with the 28 GT3 entries racing independently from the GT4 and GTC field. Both grids will qualify on Saturday, with the GT3 session getting underway at 12:15, before the opening race of the season begins at 15:55. A second 56-minute plus one lap encounter follows on Sunday at 14:30.
