Indonesia’s Andrea Anatra and Swiss-Italian ace Edoardo Mortara will share the #19 Absolute Corse Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 for the second round of the 2025 GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS, set to take place at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok, Indonesia, from 9 - 11 May.
Bronze-rated driver Andrea Anatra is set to make his series debut in what is a landmark event for Indonesian motorsport - the nation’s first-ever GT World Challenge Asia round, featuring an impressive grid of 68 drivers across 34 teams. This represents a key milestone in Indonesia’s ambitions to become a leading hub for international motorsport.
Joining Andrea Anatra is the highly respected Edoardo Mortara, renowned for his adaptability and success across top-tier categories including Formula E, DTM, and GT racing. Mortara, a longstanding member of the Absolute Racing family and Lamborghini Squadra Corse driver, is a familiar name in Asian motorsport circles.
Mortara’s collaboration with Absolute Racing has been notable in GT competition, most memorably at the Macau Grand Prix. He claimed his maiden Macau GT Cup win with the team in 2011 and followed it with a dramatic comeback victory in 2013, charging from fourth to first to seal his third consecutive win at the event. With seven wins on the Guia Circuit across different categories, he has firmly earned the nickname “Mr Macau”.
Mortara is scheduled to contest the remainder of the season, with the exception of the Fuji and Buriram rounds, where he will be replaced by Lamborghini Squadra Corse factory driver Loris Spinelli. The Italian, a multiple champion in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, has also impressed in endurance classics such as the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Loris Spinelli was present at the season opener in Malaysia, using the opportunity to integrate with the Absolute Corse squad.
Absolute Corse Team Principal Ingo Matter said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have a second Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 joining the team. Our relationship with Edo is a very special one, and we can’t wait to see him back behind the wheel of one of our cars.”
Edoardo Mortara added: “I’m pleased to be racing in GT World Challenge Asia once again. We have a long-standing history with Absolute Racing, and I’m genuinely happy to be back with them - especially now, driving a Lamborghini. There’s a lot to learn, particularly on my side, as this will be my first GT outing in Asia this year. It’s sure to be a challenging weekend, but I’m looking forward to it and hopeful that things will go well."
The partnership between Absolute Corse and Lamborghini Squadra Corse made a strong start at Sepang, with Huang Ruohan and Akash Nandy securing back-to-back podium finishes in the Silver-Am Cup, claiming second place in both races of the opening round.
