The 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia season continued with round three at Japan’s iconic Fuji International Speedway, where Absolute Racing once again demonstrated its strength with a class podium finish across its four-car entry.
The team expanded its presence in the AM class for the weekend’s double-header at the 4.563km, 17-turn circuit nestled at the base of Mount Fuji. New to the series, Vincenzo Ricci – racing under a Philippine licence – teamed up with Chinese driver Du Tianhao for their Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia debut. While Vincenzo Ricci used the opportunity to prepare for his upcoming GT World Challenge Asia debut with Absolute Corse, the event marked Du Tianhao’s first-ever motorsport competition.
In the PRO-AM class, SQDA-GRIT Motorsport’s Brian Lee Changwoo was joined by Japanese F4 and Super Taikyu competitor Kohei Tokumasu, stepping in for Alex Liang Jiatong, who was unavailable due to other racing commitments.
The team’s other entries remained unchanged. Reigning Lamborghini Cup champions Haziq and Hairie Oh returned with the HZO Fortis Racing Team by Absolute Racing in the AM class, aiming to build on their momentum. Also returning to the AM class were fellow series newcomers Umar Abdullah and Dypo Fitramadhan, representing the Delta Garage Racing Team by Absolute Racing.
In Saturday’s race, Umar Abdullah and Dypo Fitramadhan delivered a superb performance, staying out of trouble to secure an impressive P2 finish in the AM class — their best result of the season so far and their third podium in what is their debut year in the series.
Brian Lee Changwoo and Kohei Tokumasu endured a dramatic race. A spin followed by a clutch issue dashed their hopes of a podium in PRO-AM, but the SQDA-GRIT Motorsport duo showed great determination to fight back and finish fifth in class.
Vincenzo Ricci and Du Tianhao had a clean and steady run on their series debut, crossing the line fifth in the AM class. Meanwhile, Malaysian brothers Haziq and Hairie Oh completed the race in sixth (AM class) after an eventful outing. A damaged front splitter forced them to make an extra pit stop, compromising their chances of a better result.
The weekend continued to shine for Absolute Racing, as its teams delivered another impressive set of results in Sunday’s race at the iconic Fuji International Speedway.
SQDA-GRIT Motorsport’s Brian Lee Changwoo and Kohei Tokumasu secured a well-earned third place in the PRO-AM class, capping off the race with the fastest lap overall. The result could have been even stronger – Brian Lee was running second overall and leading the class before a spin saw him drop back with five minutes to go. As the championship reaches its halfway mark, the Korean driver now sits second in the PRO-AM standings.
Meanwhile, the ever-consistent Malaysian brothers Haziq and Hairie Oh bounced back with a strong drive to claim second place in the AM class – their best result of the season – surviving a late contact from a class rival. The podium finish propels the HZO Fortis Racing Team by Absolute Racing duo to second in the AM class standings.
Series newcomers Vincenzo Ricci and Du Tianhao concluded their debut weekend in style, claiming a spectacular and unexpected third place in the AM class. In challenging weather conditions, this result offers a significant morale boost for the rookie pairing.
AM driver Dypo Fitramadhan Delta Garage Racing Team by Absolute Racing made contact with an opponent at turn one. Fitramadhan would later serve a 10-second time penalty during the pit stop for the incident. Umar Abdullah and Dypo Fitramadhan couldn’t replicate Saturday’s podium finish but still delivered a solid sixth place in the AM class, collecting valuable championship points. The Indonesian pair now sit third in the AM class standings.
